How the aeroSling® System was invented
Dear Fitness-Ethusiast,
coming from a casual strength training background, I reached a point where I struggled to find the motivation to continue going through the same basic fitness routines over and over again. It was simply boring.
Then I injured my shoulder – badly. I suffered internal bleeding caused by doing shoulder lifts with to much weights. Of course, doctors recommended I stop any type of weight lifting during recovery. Great…
This is when I began thinking about an alternative solution to strength training that would be efficient as well as fun in the long-term. Specifically, I wanted something flexible enough to offer constant variation of exercises so that I wouldn’t get bored spending time training. This led me to Bodyweight Training (BWE), a new world for someone used to fitness-machines and traditional weights. The big advantage of Bodyweight Training is that you usually don’t “overload” your system with external weight because your body is designed to handle your own bodyweight.
I also loved being able to perform Bodyweight Training exercises just about anywhere and bring variation into single training session by changing hand-, foot- position or stance. Less really was more and I realized that I didn´t need extremely complex machines to become extremely fit! As my enthusiasm for Bodyweight Training grew, I realized one key element was missing. If I had a more flexible way to position my body – and weight – I could get a more effective workout each time.
Sling tables used in Physiotherapy provided all the inspiration I needed. I translated the concept of ceiling-hanging slings into something that would work for serious fitness training. That meant more durable materials and faster, easier ways to adjust the device for each exercise. The aeroSling® Sling Trainer concept was born.
I also really liked the core fitness benefits provided by the instability you get from training with swiss balls. This element is translated into the exclusive aeroSling® high-quality pulley system. In creating a way to activate and lock the pulley system by simpley entwisting the main rope, I could give users the option of achieving an even more intense and variable workout. Did you know – although we often speak of aeroSlings as “Sling Trainers” as it is a commonly used name, all aeroSlings are actually “Suspended Pulley Trainers”. Somewhat the next step in evolution.
aeroSling® Sling Trainers have improved lives of athletes of all levels. aeroSling® Sling Trainers are used in Olympic training camps, boxing gyms and clubs, schools, golf clubs, gyms, outside and homes around the world. We continue to develop and refine our products, add new features and create new products based on feedback from our customers and our own love for functional training. I continue to be one of my best customers and use the aeroSling® Sling Trainers for my own training. I am dedicated to functional and fun training … and I hope it shows in our products.
