The Battle Rope by Blackthorn is a fitness rope or power rope. It offers a range of different functional exercises in which both rope ends are held by one hand each. It is available in different lengths and different diameters.
The Blackthorn Battle Ropes are characterized by their superior quality. They are made of a flexible polyester hull with a complex weaving. Additionally, the rope ends are sewed up with the rope core to avoid that the core slips out of place inside. Thus, the rope will always keep its form. The outstanding wave characteristics make rope training with the Blackthorn Battle Ropes more effective than with most other nylon ropes.
Most people think of the classic wave motions and the corresponding exercises when they think of Battle Ropes. However, this doesn’t do them justice. Exercises with the rope’s own weight are possible as well as partner exercises and complex movements. On our homepage you will find several exercise examples to start.
Training with Battle Ropes improves strength and strength endurance. You are constantly under stress during the exercises which makes the training so efficient. The whole upper body, especially the shoulder and arm musculature, is involved. Additionally, the lower extremeties can be included by combinations with e.g. squars or lunges, giving you a full-blown full body workout. Furthermore, the grip strength is challenge in almost every Battle Rope exercise. Training with Battle Ropes is absolutely safe and is suitbale for beginners as well as intermediates and experienced athletes.
Training with a Battle Rope certainly needs more space than most other training tools. This is due to the length of the rope which is mostly between 10 to 20 m (33 to 66 ft). Even though the Battle Rope is parted in half at the mounting point – so you just need half the space of the total rope length – you will still need 5 m between the anchor point and the end of the rope for the 10 m Battle Rope. For ropes with 15 or 20 m length you would need 7.5 or 10 m respectively. The space requirements to the side, however, are very moderate: with 2 m you can do most of the exercises without constraint.
The Battle Rope can be placed around every strong enough structure that can withstand the resulting forces during training. In outdoor training this can be a park bench, a tree or a lamp post.
For indoor training you can either use a heavy weight like a kettlebell or dumbbell, or you use a fixed solution like our Blackthorn Rope Mount.
For all mounting options we recommend the addition of the Blackthorn Rope Protect to keep wear on the rope at the anchor point as low as possible.
For group training with up to 10 trainees we also offer the Rope Arena. For partner exercises, even one trainee can be the anchor point while the other training partner exercises with the Battle Rope.
The Blackthorn Battle Ropes can be recommended for outdoor use without hesitation. Their polyester material offers many advantages in comparison to hemp-based ropes. They don’t elongate, even when in contact with water. They are also UV-resistant both of which guarantees a long training life.
Beginners should choose a Battle Rope with a diameter of 30 mm with a length of 10 or 15 m. Intermediate trainees can go for the 35 mm rope with 10 m length or take the 300 mm rope with a length of 20 m. Advanced athletes train with the 35D/15M Battle Rope. Exceptionally fit athletes and experienced rope-afficionados can take the Battle Ropes with 40 mm diameter (40D/10M or 40D/15M).
The Blackthorn Battle Ropes are available in lengths of 10, 15, and 20 m. In general, you simplay have to answer a few questions: how much space do I have? Who is supposed to use the rope? Which diameter do I want to use? The answer to the right diameter (see above) almost already answers the question concerning the rope length. If you have limited space, you should rather go for the 10 m rope and choose a wider diameter (35 or 40 mm). We can also manufacture individual rope lengths. Simply give us a call.
We have put the different weights of the Battle Ropes in a handy table for you:
|10 m / 33 ft||15 m / 50 ft||20 m / 66 ft|
|30 mm / 1.2 in||5.5 kg / 12 lb||8 kg / 17.6 lb||11.5 kg / 25 lb|
|35 mm / 1.4 in||7.5 kg / 16.5 lb||11.2 kg / 24.7 lb||15 kg / 33 lb|
|40 mm / 1.6 in||9.4 kg / 20.7 lb||14 kg / 31 lb||n.a.|
With a fibre-based rope it is normal that single strands become loose from time to time. You can simply sear them with a standard lighter and thus repair the rope. To get the best out of your rope’s lifespan we recommend using a Rope Protect.
