FIBO is regarded as the international flagship trade fair for fitness, wellness, and health counting 116.000 visitors and about 700 exhibitors. Every year in April all eyes of the industry are on Cologne and global decision makers are heading to the metropolis to discover new innovations and trends for their gyms, spas or hotels.
A brief overview of the history of FIBO since 1985
The first event in 1985 was visited by approximately 10.000 people seeing 69 exhibitors presenting their latest products and services. Since then, FIBO’s popularity and reputation has been rising steadily. In 1991 the trade fair changed its venue and took place in Essen but finally returned to Cologne in 2012. Since 2005 the exhibition has been split up into FIBO and FIBO Power.
FIBO Power addresses visitors interested in bodybuilding, combatant sports, and weight training, whereas FIBO addresses fitness, wellness, and health. Every year in Cologne, the whole range of the recent developments in the industry, ranging from current fitness fashion, over latest training and nutrition methods to creative wellness trends can be seen. Furthermore FIBO is offering a diversified and exciting supporting programme including modern dance, martial arts performances, and live shows, as well as numerous congresses, meetings, and special panels.
Particularly the health sector of FIBO is getting increased attention over the last years. By establishing the congress FIBO Med in 2014 a bigger focus on exercise medicine and therapy found its way to the trade fair.
aerobis at FIBO
In 2010 aerobis took part at FIBO for the first time. Back then, however, only as a ‘supporting act’ on a partner’s booth. One year later we started running our very own booth, initially as a subleaser from Gymstick, shortly afterwards completely independent.
In 2016 we claimed booth B10 in hall 9 to promote our functional full body training. Every year at FIBO confirms that our slogan ‘Join the Functional Movement’ has arrived in the fitness scene. In Germany functional training still is in its infancy, however, the rapid development and the studio owners’ overall willingness to invest in the ‘machine free’ training philosophy is constantly growing.
